Flying with a crockpot???

Santa did good this year...got me several things that I was near purchasing myself. Only problem is checking a new craftsman drill and work light in case along with a 6 quart crockpot on my return flight! Any suggestions? I'm going to put the case in my suitcase, going to try to take the crockpot as a carry on. Could be interesting...
