A shamrock short...

The Irish are short one lovely lass this St. Patty's Day. My grandmother, Cora Lena (McIntyre) Kahl, passed away a week ago this past Friday. She was Irish to the core with the temperament to go with and a heart of gold. Her wake and funeral were a testament to her caring, her spirit, and her love of life.

It was a bit odd to drive to a friend's tonight for a traditional corn beef and cabbage dinner complete with soda bread and a bottle of Jameson Whiskey. Typically I would have called Grandma Lena on the drive to wish her a happy St. Patty's Day. Even though it was just across town, it seemed like a long drive.

I hope the bag pipes played a tune for her as she came through the gates. I'm sure it was a welcome sound to her ears.

Love you Grandma Lena!
